RIM announces an update to its BlackBerry BIS Internet Service bringing improved email support.
BlackBerry users can now display password characters when configuring BIS, making it easier to enter third-party e-mail address passwords. The service has improved support and error messages, allowing for third-party accounts to deliver unique messages with instructions on how to best integrate with BlackBerry, PDAs and smartphones.
The new version has the ability to better integrate with Gmail IMAP email service, ensuring sent messages do not appear as received messages, and including one-way synchronization of read status, sent items, and deleted items.
Users can also now access a WAP login to change email signatures when using the BlackBerry email application.
